The company Edelzweig from Carinthia in Austria produces natural, personalised urns from wood or tree bark. The personalisation of the urns is achieved by incorporating branches into the urns. The branches can, for example, come from a tree from the garden of the deceased. The products are exclusively produced in Austria from regional and natural materials.

To preserve the natural appearance of the bark during urns production, process parameters such as temperature must be kept low so that the urns do not change their original colour, but high enough for the adhesive to cure.

The bark panels were produced at different pressing temperatures and tested for their mechanical properties, such as flexural strength. It was found that the panels can be pressed at lower temperatures without reducing their strength.
